Communications Associate
THE ROLE
The Communications Associate is responsible for bringing Nāgrika's work to life on social media through design, video, writing, and content sourcing. This is a hands-on, creative execution role that sits at the intersection of design, storytelling, and research translation. You will be working closely with a small team, regularly going deep into Nāgrika's reports, projects, and ongoing research to find the stories that deserve to be told publicly.
This role requires someone who is both a maker and a communicator - comfortable behind a camera and in front of one, equally at ease designing a carousel and writing the caption that makes it land.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Create content
-
Design social media creatives, carousels, infographics, thumbnails, and reports.
-
Edit reels, podcast clips, and other short-form videos.
-
Plan and participate in content shoots, including appearing on camera.
Translate research
-
Mine reports, city profiles, and ongoing projects for stories and insights.
-
Turn complex research into engaging, accessible content.
-
Collaborate with researchers to ensure accuracy and nuance.
Write and publish
-
Write captions and social media copy aligned with Nāgrika's voice.
-
Contribute to content calendars and campaign ideas.
-
Spot timely communication opportunities from ongoing work.
Engage audiences
-
Respond to comments, messages, and communication enquiries.
-
Escalate sensitive media or partnership requests when needed.
What We Offer
-
Creative ownership over Nāgrika's public voice.
-
Close collaboration with research and policy work.
-
A curious, collaborative, and non-hierarchical team.
-
A chance to shape conversations about India's small cities.
WHO WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE

This Role May Not Suit You If
-
You want to work primarily on commercial brands or marketing campaigns.
-
You prefer highly detailed briefs before beginning creative work.
-
