Program Associate/ Manager — Community Insights
THE ROLE

The Program Associate – Community Insights is responsible for owning and driving community insight initiatives at Nāgrika.

This role sits at the intersection of research, field engagement, and partnerships. You will not only contribute to research, but also build relationships, convene conversations, and translate insights into collective learning spaces and outputs.


This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role requiring initiative, coordination, and sustained follow-through.

HIRING PROCESS

Research & Insight Generation 

  • Conduct primary and secondary research grounded in citizen experiences

  • Work with research associates to build the research base for Nāgrika

  • Translate field interactions and conversations into structured insights and narratives

  • Contribute to outputs such as city notes, thematic pieces, and internal learning documents
     

Program Ownership & Execution

  • Take ownership of specific community insight projects and initiatives

  • Plan timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure consistent follow-through

  • Identify what is not working and adapt approaches in real time
     

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and sustain relationships with civil society organisations, local actors, and institutions

  • Co-create engagements and outputs with partners

  • Serve as a key point of contact for ongoing collaborations
     

Convenings, Events & Field Engagement

  • Design and organise workshops, roundtables, and community conversations

  • Coordinate logistics, facilitation flow, and follow-ups

  • Ensure these engagements translate into meaningful insights and relationships
     

Synthesis & Knowledge Building

  • Identify patterns and insights across engagements and research

  • Contribute to development of frameworks, narratives, and tools

  • Ensure insights remain grounded, ethical, and context-sensitive

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in programs, research, community engagement, or similar roles

  • Master’s degree in public policy, urban studies, social sciences, journalism, design, law, or related fields

  • Experience working with civil society organisations, youth groups, or local institutions

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

  • Ability to write clearly and synthesise insights

  • Comfort with ambiguity and multi-dimensional roles

  • Hindi proficiency and experience in smaller cities strongly preferred
