A City Vision Document helps to capture a city, the way it runs, changes happening along the way, future aspirations, vision and so on. This CVD is different since the locals are part of the process chosen for making this document happen. I, as a fellow of Nagrika from Ravangla, and the people of Ravangla, as the interviewee; as the storyteller of Ravangla, are part of this CVD along with the Nagrika Organisation, which has provided plenty to make this document happen. This document is not just a formal record of a geographical place called ‘Ravangla’, but it is a conscious attempt to record Ravangla as a living, breathing and changing place, where people live and grow together. In a changing world, where everything seems the same but somehow different the next day, it feels very important to capture places and cities we come from, cities we call home, not just as a data document, citing physical features of a place, but narrating stories about actual life in an attempt to transport the reader into this small city called Ravangla.

We all have this feeling of wanting a chance to write our own stories, not anyone writing them for us, instead ‘us’ as part of the process, the vision and narrator of our realities. Hence, this city vision document binds us, the people of Ravangla, because we all have contributed to it. Importantly, we shared our voices of concern and dreams we have for Ravangla.
