Replenishing Coimbatore’s Waterbodies

"I think mother nature responds both positively and negatively (...) and we have seen this happening in the last 21 years of Siruthuli.
2. People have to support, right? Even if you are paying your taxes, you also have a sense of responsibility."

In Episode 5 of Season 3 of our podcast “Talk in the Town”, we had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Vanitha Mohan, a distinguished entrepreneur and passionate environmental advocate from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Ms. Mohan is the Chairman of Pricol Limited and the Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, a non-governmental organisation she founded with the mission of environmental conservation.

Through Siruthuli, Ms. Mohan has focused on addressing the pressing environmental challenges faced by Coimbatore, with a particular emphasis on water management and increasing the city’s green cover. Under her leadership, Siruthuli has spearheaded several transformative initiatives, such as cleaning and reviving the Noyyal River, promoting rainwater harvesting, and rejuvenating numerous lakes.

One of Siruthuli’s most impressive achievements is the restoration of over 40 local water bodies, creating reservoirs with a capacity to hold up to 20,000 million cubic metres of water. In this episode, we explore Ms. Mohan and her organisation's tireless efforts to create a more sustainable future for Coimbatore and how her work is impacting the environment at both local and regional levels.
