Journey of Self to Society: The Gorakhpur Way

In Episode 4 Season 2 of our podcast “Talk in the Town”, we had the pleasure of speaking with Nevish Deepak, the Co-founder of We EmbrAce Trust—a youth-led, volunteer-driven NGO dedicated to advocating for Human Rights, Animal Rights, and Climate Justice in Gorakhpur. As the City Coordinator under Fridays For Future International, Nevish is also actively involved in gender education, fostering awareness and action within the community.
Guided by the principle “What is in your way is your way,” Nevish chose to focus their efforts on their hometown when they noticed increasing pollution and declining green cover while moving around Gorakhpur. Determined to make a difference, they embarked on a journey to inspire positive environmental change. Over the past year, Nevish has successfully motivated citizens, particularly young people, to take responsibility for their surroundings and work toward a cleaner, greener Gorakhpur.
In this episode, we explore Nevish’s journey from self-awareness to social impact, discussing the challenges and successes of youth-led environmental movements in the city.
