Co-creating Sustainable Transit Choices
"After one month of awareness campaigning that we did, once people came to know it was organic growth. The 100% growth that we see is people automatically started taking these things (the feeder bus service)."
The 6th episode of Season 2 of our podcast “Talk in the Town”, features Mr. Shashidhara K, a passionate advocate for sustainable mobility in Bangalore. As the founder of the HSR Cyclists Group, he has been instrumental in promoting cycling as a viable and eco-friendly mode of transport. Over the past nine years, he has spearheaded more than 60 cycle-day events, encouraging residents of HSR Layout to embrace cycling as part of their daily routine.
Mr. Shashidhara’s commitment to sustainable transit doesn’t stop there. He collaborates closely with the HSR Citizens Forum, a nonprofit organisation focused on sustainable living. Together, they have taken significant steps under the Sustainable Mobility Accords (SUMA) programme to enhance public transportation in HSR Layout. One of their notable achievements is the introduction of a feeder loop bus service, covering five of the seven sectors in the area. The bus operates as a loop service in both directions, ensuring that residents can find a bus going their way within just five minutes.
Tune in to hear more about Mr. Shashidhara’s journey and the collective efforts shaping a sustainable future for Bangalore.
